Nearly 80 Polish schools, affiliated with diplomatic missions of the Republic of Poland, operate in 37 countries across four continents and serve almost 16,000 students eager to learn their mother tongue.
Brought together by the Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad (ORPEG), young Poles living abroad benefit from ORPEG’s support. The Centre explains: “We encourage Polish youth to stay connected with the Polish language and culture. We motivate them to learn online, pursue distance education, and make use of the educational offer of Polish schools. Additionally, we involve teachers and Polish community centres that cooperate with us.”
Polish textbooks and teaching aids are available to all who value learning Polish, supporting a cultural mission and connecting Polish expatriate families. As Anna Teresa Golec-Mastroianni, former Consul General of Poland in Milan, observes, bilingual children attend local schools during the week but on Saturdays attend Polish schools. This remarkable project is carried out by deeply committed teachers. With the Polish heart beating strongly in these schools, artists and writers are frequent visitors.
Further emphasizing this dedication, the communities that form these educational centres are highly dedicated to their mission. Schools serve as venues for meetings, cultural events, shared activities, and learning about Polish traditions. They offer students innovative teaching methods that follow the principle of learning through play.
ORPEG’s ongoing growth is reflected in its official social media profile, which reports that the 2025/26 school year saw new locations added. Among these is Argentina, where a teacher was assigned.
What ORPEG Does
ORPEG’s ongoing responsibilities are unique in that they encompass not only assigning qualified teachers to work abroad but also providing those educators with continuous methodological support, specialized training, and a platform for professional collaboration.
Within ORPEG’s structure, the Polish Community Teachers’ Centre (PCN) extends this support by organising in-person training sessions and online courses, preparing teaching materials, and maintaining regular contact with educators.
